Ask better questions about recognition across systems.

Skills recognition

Recognition is a decision made for a particular purpose. Employment, admission to a course, credit towards study and professional registration may involve different organisations and different requirements.

Start by identifying the decision you need and the organisation responsible for it. Ask which documents or evidence it accepts, how the process works and where current guidance is published.

Avoid assuming that a familiar qualification title has an identical meaning elsewhere. The level, learning outcomes, practical requirements and local context may need explanation.

Prepare a clear record of your experience and learning, but let the receiving organisation define the formal process. A well-organised portfolio supports communication; it is not a guarantee of recognition or permission to practise.
